Proofreading
Proofreading is the simplest of the editing services that I provide; just checking for errors, namely any mistakes in spelling, grammar or word usage.
If your manuscript is pretty much good to go, but you just want another set of eyes to check for typos and missing punctuation, this is what you’re looking for!
Pricing
– £50 for a manuscript of less than 20 000 words
– £90 for a manuscript of 20 000 to 50 000 words
– £170 for a manuscript of 50 000 to 85 000 words
Line Editing
This type of edit involves reading and revising a reasonably complete draft, helping to maximise the effectiveness of each and every line.
In a line edit I will read through your manuscript to ensure that your paragraphs and sentences are clear, coherent and well-structured. I will make sure your writing flows, without losing your natural voice and style.

– £65 for a manuscript of less than 20 000 words
– £120 for a manuscript of 20 000 to 50 000 words
– £210 for a manuscript of 50 000 to 85 000 words
Developmental Editing
This involves a detailed look at your story from the ground up. Amongst other things, I’ll look at structure and pace, setting, character arcs and the tone and style of writing.
Usually, the best time for a developmental edit is early in the writing process, anywhere between the outlining and completion of a first draft. But an edit of this depth can be helpful at any stage!

– £90 for a manuscript of less than 20 000 words
– £240 for a manuscript of 20 000 to 50 000 words
– £390 for a manuscript of 50 000 to 85 000 words
Writing Coaching
If you have a first draft, or even just the idea for one, and you want someone to help you take it through to a polished manuscript, ready for submission, then you might want to talk to me about writing coaching. I will work with you to come up with a quote that encompasses all of the above levels of editing services. Including revisions and encouragement along the way!
This is heavily dependent on the length and nature of your project, as well as whether we work well together! But if you’re interested, get in touch and we can discuss a pricing framework.
